A Huawei Case Study
Datastore365, a U.K.-based cloud backup service provider, needed to scale its storage for growing customer data while improving performance, reliability, and manageability. Its legacy storage environment had trouble handling massive numbers of small files, used multiple management systems across two data centers, and relied on DAS that limited efficiency and linear growth.
Huawei implemented two OceanStor N8300 clustered NAS systems, with local and remote systems supporting replication, scale-out, and scale-up expansion. The solution improved performance to triple the previous read/write workload for small files, centralized storage management to cut maintenance costs, enabled 24/7 continuous operation, and strengthened backup and disaster recovery with incremental remote replication. Datastore365 also expanded the Huawei systems twice by 2012 to keep pace with demand.
