Yunnan Provincial Department of Health (YDH) needed a secure, unified medical information system to integrate data from public health services, basic medical systems, portals, referral networks, and other departments. Its existing environment was fragmented into many stand-alone systems with isolated data silos, low storage utilization, limited interoperability, no backup, and insufficient compliance with security protection requirements. Huawei was brought in to help address these issues.

Huawei implemented a one-stop solution built on virtualized computing platforms, OceanStor 18500 high-end storage, OceanStor S2600 backup systems, and the eSight unified management platform. The deployment created 14 data centers across Yunnan, centralized storage into a VM resource pool, and added backup and unified operations management. As a result, YDH improved data sharing and security, achieved 99.999% reliability, reduced O&M complexity, and made future expansion easier and lower cost.
