A Huawei Case Study
The First Affiliate Hospital of Zhengzhou University (TFAHZU) in China needed a telemedicine and healthcare data platform that could keep up with rapidly growing volumes of patient history, diagnosis, treatment, and PACS imaging data. As its remote care network expanded across provincial and county hospitals, the hospital faced major challenges around 15-year data retention requirements, high-concurrency system performance, big data analysis, and disaster recovery. Huawei provided the storage foundation for this effort, including its OceanStor 9000 Big Data Storage System.
Huawei implemented a synchronized primary and disaster recovery architecture for TFAHZU’s telemedicine Big Data platform, pairing OceanStor 9000 with a FusionInsight Hadoop computing cluster and remote replication between sites. The solution supports HDFS, NFS, and CIFS access for fast retrieval, enables big data analysis and mining across clinical and operational data, and scales to 10+ PB with up to 400 GB/s bandwidth. As a result, TFAHZU gained the capacity and performance needed for its expanding telemedicine services and built China’s largest telemedicine platform and first medical big data analysis platform.
