Hunan Local Taxation Bureau, responsible for tax collection and management across Hunan province, needed a new storage foundation to support a growing, always-on eGovernment and taxation environment. Its existing mix of low-scalability third-party storage systems could not keep up with rising data volumes, 24/7 service demands, or the need for higher performance, reliability, and expansion beyond the legacy devices’ limited IOPS and capacity.

Huawei addressed these needs with the OceanStor 18500 storage system, deploying one in the production center and one in the disaster recovery center for full geographic redundancy. The solution used centralized storage, Hyper series software, SSDs, SmartTier, and SmartQoS to support Oracle RAC, snapshot/cloning, and 99.9999% service availability, while delivering up to 4.5 PB of capacity and 1 million IOPS. As a result, Huawei helped Hunan Local Taxation Bureau scale storage with service growth and cut O&M costs by 50%.
