A Huawei Case Study
Shuozhou-Huanghua Railway (SHR) needed to upgrade its railway communications and transmission network to support longer heavy-haul trains, increase capacity, and improve reliability, security, bandwidth, and O&M efficiency. The legacy MSTP-based platform could not adequately support the more diversified services and advanced network features SHR wanted, while also struggling with limited coverage for multiple locomotive synchronization.
Huawei rebuilt SHR’s transmission network with a unified, optimized solution based on a 1.8 GHz TD-LTE network, 10 Gbit/s backbone, 2.5 Gbit/s aggregation, and OptiX OSN 7500/3500 optical transmission switches, supported by Huawei iManager U2000 eLTE management software. The result was a more scalable and flexible network with dual-network coverage, multiple-priority QoS, and improved reliability, delivering 99.999% system availability while also reducing CAPEX and OPEX through simplified O&M and fewer spare parts.
