A Huawei Case Study
Midea Group, a large Chinese household appliance conglomerate, needed a more reliable way to back up critical production and business data across its sites. Its legacy backup environment had limited capacity, poor performance, and could not efficiently protect systems such as PLM, PDM, MES, QIS, and eCard, putting production continuity and operational reliability at risk. Huawei provided the IT infrastructure used in the modernization effort.
Huawei implemented a backup solution built around Huawei RH2288 V2 servers and Huawei VTL6900 virtual tape libraries, working with Symantec Backup Exec 2010. The new system improved security, reliability, and backup speed, enabling up to 2.34 TB per hour and allowing full backups to complete within 3 hours; it also supported global deduplication of up to 20:1 and remote replication, reducing bandwidth and communication costs while supporting future growth.
