National Library Speeds Search Capabilities

The National Library of China, the largest national library in Asia, needed a faster, more efficient way to search and retrieve information from its massive digital collection of more than 500 TB and 200 million pages. Its existing retrieval approach was slow during peak periods, creating poor user experience and raising the prospect of expensive infrastructure upgrades.

Huawei implemented the Wenjin search system using a Huawei RH2285 server and SSD-based, software-and-hardware integrated search optimization. Huawei’s solution improved response speeds by five times during peak usage, increased search performance to handle up to 10,000 requests per second, reduced bottlenecks, cut the need for multiple servers down to one, and lowered power consumption and overall investment by more than 30 percent.
