Preview of the State Grid Corporation of China Case Study

More Efficient Smart Grid Uses Huawei Servers

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), the world’s largest state-owned electric utilities company, needed to modernize its Dispatch Automation (DA) system as part of its Smart Grid initiative. Its D5000 platform had to meet demanding requirements for security, compatibility, reliability, and real-time performance across critical services such as SCADA, EMS, OPS, SCS, OMS, and DTS. Huawei provided the infrastructure foundation, including Tecal RH2485 V2 rack servers, Tecal E6000 blade servers, and OceanStor S5600T storage.

Huawei’s upgraded server and storage solution improved SGCC’s dispatch systems with high-performance, highly reliable x86/Linux computing and unified storage. The deployment supported online and offline workloads more efficiently, passed security and compatibility tests, and helped SGCC cut maintenance costs by 30%, reduce equipment footprint by 50%, and lower energy consumption by 10%. With Huawei, SGCC achieved a more secure, reliable, and economical power grid operation.
