Case Study: Vodat International achieves scalable, cost-effective managed retail networking with Huawei

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the Vodat International Case Study

Managed Networks for Retailers

Vodat International, a UK managed services provider for retailers, needed a more scalable and cost-effective way to deliver reliable WAN connectivity for customers with dozens to thousands of outlets. After struggling with the limits and margins of leased MPLS services, Vodat looked for a vendor that could support flexible, monitored retail networks with strong performance, interoperability, and room to grow.

Huawei helped Vodat build and operate its own managed MPLS network using Huawei NE40E routers, S9300 routers, and USG 5120 managed firewalls. The result was a highly scalable solution with sub-50 ms failover, strong interoperability with non-Huawei edge equipment, and significantly lower costs: initial network outlay was 30% to 40% less than competing offers, while also reducing power, space, and training requirements.
