Case Study: The Kenyan government improves city safety and emergency response with Huawei Safe City solutions

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the The Kenyan government Case Study

Kenyan Safe City Can Now Sleep Better

The Kenyan government needed a national Safe City solution to improve security, emergency response, and traffic management amid terrorist attacks and weak infrastructure. Huawei was selected to deliver an end-to-end Safe City system, including an Emergency Command Center (ECC), GIS-based call handling and dispatch, video surveillance, wireless trunking, and location-based services.

Huawei planned, designed, integrated, and deployed the ECC and related networks, while also training Kenyan engineers and optimizing LTE network performance. The solution improved emergency call connection rates from 30% to 85%, prevented 70% of prank calls using Big Data analytics, reduced deployment time by 15 to 20%, lowered investment and labor costs, and helped police monitor crimes and traffic violations more effectively.
