A Huawei Case Study
GO internet, a mid-sized Italian ISP, was facing network capacity challenges and needed to migrate its customers from its legacy WiMAX technology to a more advanced standard to remain competitive. The company needed to expand services to new areas and improve coverage without the high cost of installing more base stations or expensive outdoor customer equipment. They partnered with vendor Huawei to implement a new LTE wireless solution.
Huawei provided an LTE-TDD solution utilizing 3.5 GHz technology, 4T4R, and beamforming. This significantly improved indoor coverage and network performance, reaching speeds of 100 Mbit/s and eliminating the need for costly outdoor devices. The results for GO internet included a higher return on investment, the ability to serve three times more users per base station, and an increase in average revenue per user (ARPU) as subscribers migrated to the faster service.
