Huawei Wireless Solution Improves Rail Services

Shenzhen Metro needed a reliable train-to-ground wireless network for Line 11, a high-speed express metro route operating at up to 120 km/h across tunnels, elevated sections, and open ground. The line’s use for CBTC, passenger information, surveillance, and real-time services created demanding requirements for mobility, interference resistance, and bandwidth. Huawei provided its eLTE train-to-ground Wireless Communications Solution to address these needs.

Huawei’s eLTE solution delivered seamless coverage, anti-interference performance, and high bandwidth for real-time video and data transmission, while also supporting precise planning, reliable implementation, and network optimization. The deployment used far fewer track-side devices than traditional approaches, with the case study noting only one-fifth as many devices, and helped Shenzhen Metro Line 11 successfully operate with stable wireless connectivity. Huawei’s broader rail solution was also reported to have won 14 metro lines in 10 cities by June 2016, including 3 CBTC lines.
