A Huawei Case Study
RMIT worked with Huawei to support a Real-Time Location System (RTLS) pilot in five of Shiny Pty’s warehouses in Australia. The warehouses were large, physically separated, and filled with metal racks, creating major wireless coverage challenges for barcode scanners, handheld terminals, and real-time asset tracking.
Huawei designed and deployed a dedicated Wi-Fi warehouse network using WLAN Planner, outdoor APs, and high-gain directional antennas to deliver reliable wireless backhaul, seamless roaming, and simplified deployment and maintenance. The solution extended coverage across all five warehouses, reduced interference, improved warehouse management efficiency, and supported RTLS research with positioning accuracy of 2–3 meters indoors and around 5 meters outdoors.
