Phoenix Satellite Television, a Hong Kong-based media company broadcasting Chinese-language content to more than 150 countries, was struggling with rapidly growing storage demands from 24/7 news production, HDTV workflows, non-linear editing, and global media distribution. Its existing data center storage had reached scalability and performance limits, making it difficult to support higher-bandwidth services and future Ultra-HD growth.
Huawei addressed these challenges with the OceanStor N8500 Clustered NAS System, which Phoenix TV validated through PoC testing in Hong Kong and Beijing before deploying across its global data centers. The solution delivered highly scalable, high-performance shared storage with multi-node active-active architecture, reliability features, and simplified management, helping Phoenix TV expand to 15 PB of capacity and reduce total cost of ownership by more than 30%.
