Huawei Storage Solution Relays 2012 Olympics

China Central Television (CCTV), China’s leading state broadcaster, needed a high-performance, highly reliable, and scalable storage platform to support its 2012 Olympics program package and production system. As video rendering and program production would require heavy access to hotspot data files, CCTV turned to Huawei for a file storage solution that could handle fast-growing storage demands while also supporting rights management and secure data access.

Huawei implemented a four-node N8000 NAS cluster with 100 TB SAS disks and a 10-gigabit network to deliver more than 2.2 Gbits/s of read/write performance. The solution integrated with CCTV’s Active Directory environment for access control and space allocation, and its clustered, redundant architecture improved reliability and scalability. Huawei reported measurable performance exceeding 3600 Mbits/s under a four-node, 10-Gbits/s network, while also reducing rendering time, improving production efficiency, lowering operating costs, and strengthening data security.
