Huawei Standardizes Power Grid IT System

China Southern Power Grid Company, which manages the electricity grid across China’s five southern provinces, faced growing IT complexity as its services expanded. With devices purchased separately by provincial sites from multiple vendors, the utility struggled with fault location and resolution across its increasingly distributed infrastructure. Huawei stepped in to support the company’s move toward a standardized IT environment, using its E6000 blade server solution.

Huawei implemented E6000 blade servers to provide a high-density, high-performance, and centrally manageable platform for China Southern Power Grid’s server infrastructure. The solution improved reliability with redundant architecture, simplified maintenance with IPMI 2.0 and remote management tools, and boosted energy efficiency with power-saving features and up to 92% power conversion efficiency. Huawei’s standardized hardware also improved system compatibility, resource utilization, and overall management efficiency.
