Vipshop, a Chinese eCommerce discount retailer, needed to support rapid business growth while reducing low server utilization, high energy consumption, and equipment room space requirements. To improve efficiency and lower operating costs, Vipshop looked for a higher-density infrastructure for its web access and middleware layers, while keeping database performance strong with rack servers.

Huawei provided a solution built around X6000 high-density servers, along with RH2288 V2 and RH5885 V2 rack servers for database workloads. Huawei’s X6000 packed four 2-socket nodes into a 2U chassis, improving space utilization by at least 100% versus traditional rack servers and reducing total energy consumption by 15% through centralized cooling and fewer redundant components. The result was a more compact, energy-efficient platform that supported multiple capacity expansions during the first year.
