Ulanqab Municipal Government launched a Big Data and cloud-computing strategy to support a new 13-square-kilometer information industry base and create a cloud service backup center for North China. To meet the need for fast deployment, high reliability, and energy-efficient infrastructure, the city worked with Huawei on a modular data center solution.

Huawei implemented the Ulanqab-Huawei Cloud Data Center using Huawei Modular Data Center (MDC) technology, including 46 smart modules, 1,600 cabinets, and support for a large cloud resource pool. The prefabricated design cut construction time to 6 months, reduced O&M labor costs by 80%, improved energy efficiency by 30%, and lowered PUE to 1.35. The platform now supports more than 30 municipal bureaus and has improved government services while laying the foundation for future regional cloud, Big Data, and disaster-recovery services.
