A Huawei Case Study
China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), the government agency responsible for food, cosmetic, and drug regulation in China, needed an environment that could scale with growing regulatory demands. CFDA required stable hardware and open protocols for unified management, future expansion, and five key functions covering licensing, drug circulation, recalls, drug quality control, and decision-making. Huawei was selected to support these needs with its server infrastructure.
Huawei implemented FusionServer E9000 blade servers with a converged architecture, including virtualized blade servers at headquarters and additional blade and rack servers for backup and dedicated systems. The solution improved reliability, simplified service deployment and operations, and helped lower operation and management costs by 40% and total cost of ownership by 20%, while supporting long-term expansion. Huawei’s platform also leveraged high-reliability design, advanced cooling, and strong R&D/testing capabilities to help CFDA better manage safety and compliance goals.
