Huawei Cloud DC Assures Karamay’s Transformation

Karamay oil field, the first major oil field discovered in China and a driver of Karamay city’s economy, needed a highly reliable, energy-efficient cloud foundation for eGovernment, public services, and future disaster recovery use. To support its smart city and digital oil field transformation, Huawei worked with the city on a cloud data center initiative that had to meet national grade-A standards for zero-interruption service, strong security, and efficient operations.

Huawei implemented a green cloud data center solution using 22 modular UPS5000-E power systems in 2N architecture, 82 NetCol8000 precision air conditioners with confined cold aisles, and the NetEco intelligent management system. The result was a new-generation data center that can save about USD 0.6 million in electricity costs annually versus the industrial average, while improving operations and maintenance efficiency by 30%.
