A Huawei Case Study
The Institute of Disaster Prevention (IDP), a China-based disaster prevention and research institution, needed a powerful IT platform to support earthquake precursor monitoring, real-time satellite data analysis, historical data comparison, and large-scale earthquake forecasting. To handle massive data volumes and improve scientific research and teaching quality, IDP turned to Huawei for a high-performance infrastructure with advanced computing, storage, and networking capabilities.
Huawei implemented a solution built around RH2288 rack servers with high-performance GPUs, OceanStor S5600T storage, RH2285 V2 servers for I/O and metadata management, and a high-speed Mellanox/Huawei network environment, managed with CHESS cluster software. The system delivered up to 20 TFLOPS of computing power, 500 TB of storage, and improved system performance by 80 percent while boosting data access performance by 70 percent, giving IDP a scalable platform that can expand over the next ten years.
