Huawei Anti-DDoS Aids Tencent’s Online Growth

Tencent, one of China’s largest technology companies and the operator of 10 Internet Data Centers serving more than 100 million online users, needed stronger protection against increasingly frequent DDoS attacks. Its existing firewalls and IPS could not keep up with high-volume, application-layer attacks across HTTP, HTTPS, SIP, and DNS, creating performance bottlenecks and threatening service availability. Tencent turned to Huawei for a high-performance anti-DDoS solution that could improve security without hurting user experience.

Huawei implemented its anti-DDoS solution in Tencent’s IDCs, featuring a seven-layer detection algorithm and advanced multi-core distributed hardware architecture. The solution can handle traditional, application-layer, IPv4/IPv6 hybrid attacks, boost throughput from 2G to 200G, and respond to attacks within two seconds while delivering five-nines reliability. As a result, Tencent gained stronger defense against hundreds of attack types, lower O&M costs, and more secure, high-availability online services.
