HPC Platform Sows Success for Turkish Farmers

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) needed a more powerful way to process massive agricultural and meteorological data for Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture. Its existing serial computing setup could not keep up with rising demand, some complex calculations failed, and reliability issues even led to a loss of 140 TB of data. ITU turned to Huawei for a high-performance computing and storage platform.

Huawei built an 800-core computing cluster using 40 RH1288 rack servers, paired with an OceanStor 18800 storage system, high-speed 10 GE interconnection, and a disaster recovery center. The new platform replaced serial computing with parallel computing, delivered up to 14 TFLOPS and 99.999% reliability, enabled eight times better performance, and provided scalable capacity for the next five years while improving DR recovery speed by 20 times.
