Case Study: CCTV achieves high-performance HDTV production with Huawei OceanStor N8500

HDTV Production Leverages OceanStor

China Central Television (CCTV), mainland China’s largest state broadcaster, needed a high-performance storage platform for its new HD production environment. For its Packaging and Production Island, CCTV required a system that could support more than 70 HD workstations and 64 rendering servers with at least 2.2 Gbit/s read/write bandwidth, 24/7 reliability, and directory-based access control across Windows, Linux, and Mac systems. Huawei’s OceanStor N8500 clustered NAS was evaluated to meet these demanding production and security requirements.

Huawei implemented an OceanStor N8500 with four NAS nodes and 210 SAS disks, delivering 100 TB of initial capacity and up to 3,600 Mbit/s bandwidth over a 10-Gigabit network. The solution used scale-out clustering, redundant design, and integration with Active Directory and backup software to improve manageability, security, and fault tolerance. As a result, CCTV achieved performance 50% above its specification, with stable operation and easier expansion for future media growth.
