Case Study: Vodafone Ghana achieves scalable wireless storage and disaster recovery with Huawei OceanStor

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the Vodafone Ghana Case Study

Ghana Goes Wireless with Huawei Storage & DR

Vodafone Ghana, an operating company of Vodafone Group, needed to replace aging NetApp and EMC storage systems as rapid growth in mobile subscribers, website data, billing, and customer support information overwhelmed its existing infrastructure. To support its shift from fiber-optic to 3G wireless services, the company needed a secure, high-performance, scalable storage and disaster recovery platform with better capacity, performance, and simplified management.

Huawei implemented an integrated solution built around the OceanStor 9000 Big Data Storage System, mid-range RH2288 V2 rack servers, and CommVault Simpana backup software, managed through Huawei eSight. Huawei delivered a unified storage and DR platform that improved archival storage, backup, scalability, and operations, helping Vodafone Ghana go live by the end of 2014. The solution reduced total cost of ownership by over 20% while eliminating bottlenecks and supporting zero data loss operation and 24/7/365 business continuity.
