Preview of the Zhejiang Telecom Case Study

FusionStorage Aids On-demand Telco Services

Zhejiang Telecom, a provincial branch of China Telecom, faced significant IT challenges related to its storage infrastructure. The company struggled with poor scalability, low resource utilization, and severe performance bottlenecks caused by using storage devices from multiple vendors. These issues hindered the scalability and efficiency of their cloud resource pools after virtualizing their network and computing resources. To address this, they partnered with Huawei to find a new storage solution.

Huawei deployed its FusionStorage distributed storage solution, which created a 2 PB storage resource pool using x86 servers. The implementation featured parallel I/O processing, achieving 1.3 million IOPS and 120 Gbit/s bandwidth. The Huawei solution improved storage management efficiency by over 100%, increased resource utilization by more than 50%, and reduced system construction time to just two weeks, successfully eliminating the performance bottlenecks.
