Fonterra’s SAP HANA Solution Empowers Future Business

Fonterra, New Zealand’s largest dairy company, needed to modernize its enterprise IT to support a vast global supply chain, improve real-time processing, and reduce the high cost and performance limits of its legacy Oracle-based environment. Huawei worked with Fonterra as it evaluated a long-term SAP S/4HANA path, using Huawei’s 5885H V3 server and ES3000 V3 NVMe SSD-based SAP HANA solution to better handle growing business demands.

Huawei implemented an SAP HANA appliance solution with Datacom and SAP, delivering a high-performance, scalable, and reliable platform for Fonterra’s financial and supply chain systems. The new environment improved real-time analysis, account checking, and decision-making, and after migration Fonterra expected to save about USD $1 million per month in costs; the system went live in Q4 2016 after three months of PoC testing.
