Electric Co. Chooses Huawei OTN Backbone

Liaoning Electric Power Company, a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, needed to expand and modernize its provincial backbone transport network in Liaoning province as growing information and automation services strained the legacy communication system. The company wanted a more intelligent, reliable, secure, and scalable backbone, and turned to Huawei for an OTN-based transport solution.

Huawei implemented an OTN-based 40 x 10G DWDM system using 14 sets of OptiX OSN 6800 equipment across the provincial backbone network. The solution delivered flexible service grooming, stronger protection and security, and ROADMs for dynamic traffic management, helping Liaoning Electric Power build a larger-capacity network with easier scalability and higher reliability. Huawei’s hybrid OA boards also reduced costs by extending transmission distance and lowering the need for signal regenerators.
