eGovernment Infrastructure Moves to the Cloud

Beijing municipal government worked with Huawei to modernize its eGovernment IT environment as part of a five-year plan to improve efficiency and citizen services by moving key government services to the cloud. The city faced major challenges, including nearly 30 separate data centers with very low utilization, multiple Internet access points with significant security threats, and difficult, labor-intensive operations and maintenance.

Huawei implemented a cloud infrastructure solution including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and SaaS applications, along with servers, storage, switches, security devices, firewalls, cloud platform software, and O&M services. Huawei’s migration tools and rollout process helped move services quickly and smoothly, increasing resource utilization from 16% to 55%, reducing security risks by 95%, and cutting support needs from 70 engineers to just five.
