Dorado Storage Drives Astra’s Car Business

Astra International, one of Indonesia’s largest diversified companies, needed to keep its Business Intelligence system running reliably as data volumes doubled and month-end reporting became slower and less stable. To address these challenges, Huawei was brought in with its OceanStor Dorado storage solution to improve performance without disrupting existing business processes.

Huawei implemented OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage with hotspot tiering and volume mirroring to move hot data and the master database while keeping cold data on legacy storage. The result was a dramatic improvement: disk access latency dropped from 40 ms to 2 ms, SQL execution time improved from 780 seconds to 176 seconds, month-end downtime was eliminated, and Astra reduced TCO while avoiding changes to its applications and infrastructure.
