Deltares Accelerates Big Data Flood Analysis

Deltares, a Dutch institute specializing in flood prevention and water management, needed far more computing power to handle the massive datasets behind its Digital Delta Big Data project and Delft-FEWS early warning system. Its existing IT environment was too limited and closed to scale easily, virtualize, or support the data volumes from hundreds of projects and sensor feeds.

Huawei provided a convergent server solution using the E9000 server, S5600T storage, and high-performance computing nodes with 10 GE, FC, and IB connectivity. The new platform boosted Big Data processing efficiency by over 4x, improved resource utilization and lowered TCO, and reduced the footprint from three racks per workstation to one 22U rack, helping Deltares deliver faster flood-risk analysis and real-time results.
