Bohai Insurance, one of China’s most profitable financial institutions, needed to upgrade its data center and migrate more than 30 critical systems from its Tianjin headquarters to a new site 20 km away. The insurer faced growing data demands, a 12-hour downtime limit during migration, storage reliability concerns, and the need for a stronger disaster recovery plan. To address these challenges, Bohai Insurance turned to Huawei and its high-performance storage and DR technologies, including OceanStor systems and ReplicationDirector.

Huawei implemented an intra-city active/standby disaster recovery solution with OceanStor VIS6600T and OceanStor 18500 storage, plus ReplicationDirector for visual DR management and remote replication. The migration was completed in 11 hours, successfully moved 20 TB of data, and enabled high availability with no single point of failure. Huawei’s solution improved recovery time objective by more than 30%, increased storage reliability, and gave Bohai Insurance stronger business continuity and easier DR operations.
