A Huawei Case Study
China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPP), a large international energy company focused on pipeline engineering and construction, needed to improve data security and service availability in its data center environment. Its existing DC was physically separated from its core subsidiary, limiting resource sharing and business development, while CPP also required zero service interruption and zero data loss for critical systems. CPP turned to Huawei and its VMware-based virtual DC vision, along with Huawei OceanStor storage, to address these challenges.
Huawei proposed an active-active disaster recovery solution using two physical data centers plus a remote DR site. The implementation included Huawei OceanStor 18500 storage, Virtualization Interface Switches, a backup platform with Physical Tape Library and Virtual Tape Library, and a LAN-free fiber channel backup network. The result was a highly available, disaster-proof environment with real-time mirroring, online VM migration, and RPO of zero with RTO approximately zero for Level 1 services. Huawei’s solution also enabled maintenance without downtime, centralized management, and secure failover without data loss.
