City-wide transportation system gets smart

Huawei helped the City Of Langfang, a rapidly growing city south of Beijing with a population of more than 4 million, address severe traffic congestion, accidents, and outdated police dispatching systems. As road traffic increased faster than the city’s traffic-control infrastructure, Langfang needed a smarter way to manage streets, intersections, and emergency response.

Huawei delivered an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) built around a GIS-based command platform that integrated traffic signal control, video surveillance, traffic flow monitoring, GPS tracking for police vehicles, electronic policing, roadside guidance displays, and an alarm/dispatch center. With real-time visibility into traffic and roadway conditions, Langfang improved traffic efficiency and safety, reduced accidents involving drivers and pedestrians, and enabled police and emergency teams to respond more effectively to incidents.
