Case Study: China Mobile achieves highly efficient data center operations with Huawei's modular high-density solution

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the China Mobile Case Study

China Mobile Data Center is Highly Efficient

China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile phone operator, needed to support rapid growth at its Guangzhou base with a highly efficient, high-density data center capable of handling cloud computing and virtualization. Its main challenges were ensuring sufficient power and heat dissipation for medium- and high-density blade servers while also meeting corporate goals for energy conservation, emissions reduction, and flexible expansion. Huawei was selected to address these needs with a scalable modular data center approach.

Huawei implemented a modular medium- and high-density data center solution featuring accurate air supply cabinets, hot aisle containment, in-row air conditioning, and an independent energy management system. The result was a highly efficient facility with PUE below 1.5, Tier 3-level availability, and intelligent monitoring capabilities. Huawei’s solution reduced the data center footprint by about 50%, cut build time to 14 weeks, supported on-demand expansion, and helped lower operating expenses by 30% while delivering strong ROI.
