BYD Builds a Standardized, High-Performing Smart Factory

BYD Automobile Company Limited, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in China, needed to overcome growing IT complexity as its production expanded. Its systems were running in silos across design, procurement, assembly, and warehousing, making it difficult to share data in real time and to provide multinational customers with the strict visibility they required. BYD turned to Huawei, using SAP ME and Huawei SAP HANA appliance solutions alongside its ERP and EWM systems.

Huawei implemented a standardized, integrated smart manufacturing platform that connected BYD’s production, warehouse, and enterprise systems. The new environment improved traceability and real-time control across the full production process, cut response times for key services from 1–2 minutes to 10 seconds, and reduced integrated production query times by 10x. Huawei’s solution also improved productivity, reduced supply chain costs, and enabled clearer production data analysis and more efficient management.
