Case Study: Caixa Econômica Federal achieves digital transformation with Huawei AR G3 VPN access solution

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the Caixa Econômica Federal Case Study

Brazil’s Caixa Transformed into Digital Bank

Caixa Econômica Federal, Brazil’s second-largest state-owned bank, needed to modernize its widely dispersed branch network and better support growing customer service demands while reducing capital and operating costs. Its legacy network could not provide the reliable, high-performance, cost-effective connectivity needed to centrally manage thousands of branches and deliver stable banking services. Huawei’s AR G3 VPN access solution, built around AR1200 series routers, was selected to address these challenges.

Huawei implemented secure GRE over IPsec VPN connections between branch offices and headquarters, along with integrated routing, switching, voice, WLAN, and security functions in the AR1200 series routers. The solution simplified deployment and O&M through one-stop access, USB-based setup, batch configuration, and GUI-based one-click management, cutting equipment investment by over 30% and reducing maintenance complexity. As a result, Caixa strengthened its digital transformation, improved network reliability and service efficiency, and preserved the importance of physical branches as customer service points.
