A Huawei Case Study
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) needed a more reliable power infrastructure for its logistics systems, as its coastal location exposed equipment to high humidity and salt, causing unnecessary downtime and risking flight delays. To address this challenge, HKIA worked with Huawei and deployed a modular UPS system designed for harsh environmental conditions.
Huawei’s UPS5000 modular UPS improved availability through dual controllers, redundant fans, corrosion-resistant coating, predictive alarms, and faster maintenance support. The upgrade increased the reliability of HKIA’s logistics system by 6% and improved efficiency to 96%, saving about 40,000 kWh of electricity per year and reducing costs by roughly $5,000 to $10,000 annually.
