Case Study: Beijing Metro achieves safer surveillance and emergency command with Huawei Digital Urban Rail Solution

A Huawei Case Study

Preview of the Beijing Metro Case Study

Beijing Metro Secures Surveillance and Command

Beijing Metro needed to strengthen safety surveillance, accident prevention, and emergency response across its rapidly expanding rail network. In early stages, it had under-invested in safety planning and operations, creating a need for a more efficient, reliable, secure, and future-ready railway safety surveillance and emergency command center. Huawei provided the Digital Urban Rail Solution to support these requirements.

Huawei implemented a network carrying platform and secure, reliable application environment using two S12700 series Agile Switches at the core layer, with CSS2-based 1+N MPU backup, high-density 10 GE/100 GE ports, zero-packet-loss forwarding, and programmable ENP capabilities. The solution improved transmission stability, reduced delay, and enabled real-time data, voice, and video services for emergency command and surveillance, helping Beijing Metro better handle critical emergencies and optimize its railway safety system.
