A Huawei Case Study
Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) worked with Huawei to upgrade its complex nationwide banking network as part of an integrated big platform strategy. ABC needed to support 3 data centers, 5 service processing centers, more than 20,000 outlets, and hundreds of thousands of employees while replacing a legacy network with separate production and office environments.
Huawei rebuilt ABC’s network architecture, including the Tier-1 backbone and 36 Tier-1 branch data centers, using CE12800 data center switches, S9700 switches, and NE40E routers. The new design merged overlapping zones from 13 to 6, added firewall controls and redundancy for 99.999% core-node reliability, and raised core bandwidth from 2.5 Gbit/s to 10 Gbit/s with an upgrade path to 100 Gbit/s; the result was a stable launch of ABC’s new-generation core service system and improved scalability for the next five years.
