Backbone Network for Chinese Central Bank

People’s Bank of China (PBC), China’s central bank, needed a backbone network for more than 30 branches that could support growing business-critical services while delivering very high reliability and security. Its original network had single points of failure, weak security and monitoring, and insufficient capacity for new services such as voice, video conferencing, and collaborative office applications. Huawei was chosen to address these challenges with a customized backbone network solution.

Huawei implemented a “dual-panel + heterogeneous support” architecture using Huawei and existing third-party devices together, along with reliable hardware design, redundancy, BFD, and FRR for end-to-end 200 ms protection switching. Huawei also added Symantec-based security features, anti-attack protections, and NetStream monitoring for real-time traffic analysis. The result was a highly reliable, secure, and scalable network with improved O&M, flexible expansion for future growth, and a platform built to support PBC’s needs for the next 5 to 10 years.
