A Huawei Case Study
Avacon Natur, the E.ON subsidiary, needed a better way to support machine-to-machine (M2M) communication across power plants spread over more than 300 square kilometers. The company wanted to evaluate whether LTE could outperform GSM and Wi‑Fi for reliable control-center communications, low latency, and strong indoor coverage for equipment often located in basements.
Huawei implemented a 4G LTE proof of concept using the 450 MHz band, combining a CDMA core and an LTE core on the same spectrum with Huawei SingleRAN for unified radio access. The trial showed that Huawei’s solution delivered efficient, reliable M2M communication with minimal latency, no interference between services, and dependable coverage across challenging conditions such as distance and humidity, leaving Avacon Natur ready to scale the approach to thousands of sites.
