ATM Operator Selects Huawei Security Gateway

TecBan, Brazil’s large self-service banking operator with more than 45,000 ATMs, needed a cost-effective way to upgrade and secure the interconnections for its remote ATM network. The company required high availability, multiple connection options, and strong security for ATM communications. Huawei addressed this challenge with its Unified Security Gateway USG2110.

Huawei implemented USG2110 gateways inside each ATM to create secure VPN tunnels back to TecBan’s data center, using ADSL as the primary connection and 3G as automatic backup for failover. The solution improved reliability, security, and manageability while fitting the limited space inside ATMs, and it also reduced power consumption to 18W, lowering energy use and heat.
