10G Network Makes Venue a Business Hot Spot

EventCity Manchester, a major event venue in Northern England, needed a scalable, reliable network to support rapid growth and deliver a strong digital experience for visitors, exhibitors, and organizers. Its existing mix of ad hoc networking equipment was already oversubscribed, creating challenges for high-speed Internet access, BYOD, online payments, video conferencing, CCTV, and IPTV. EventCity turned to Huawei and its 10G Campus Network Solution to build a future-ready ICT foundation.

Huawei implemented a network built around two S6700-24-EI core switches, six S5700-28C-PWR-EI switches, three S5700-52C-PWR-EI switches, and an Eudemon 200E-X3 firewall with content manager license. The upgrade significantly improved peak-time access, supported up to 14,000 visitors on site and 35,000 over a weekend, and enabled demanding events like Play Expo with 250 exhibitors requiring ultra-fast, low-latency connectivity. Huawei also delivered secure BYOD support, better energy efficiency, and a lower TCO than competing 1G alternatives.
