A Huawei Case Study
National Center for Protein Science (Shanghai) needed a flexible, reliable, high-performance campus network to support protein research, share scientific information with other institutes, and handle rapidly growing data traffic across its five-building campus. The institute wanted 10 GE connectivity, full wireless coverage, and a strong backbone for stable operations and high-quality data and image transmission, so it turned to Huawei for help.
Huawei implemented a three-layer campus network architecture using CE12800 switches at the core, CE6800 switches at aggregation, and S5700 switches at access, with 10G links between layers. Huawei also added security and access capabilities including USG5500 firewalls, SSL VPN, and Wi-Fi, along with reliable backup and self-healing design. The result was a scalable 10 GE campus network that improved research productivity, enabled fast access to computing resources, supported high-quality image/video transfer, and is expected to serve NCPSS’s growth for up to 10 years.
