Valero Energy Corporation, a global petroleum refiner and marketer, faced the challenge of building consumer loyalty for its Texaco fuel brand in a highly competitive, low-interest market. To overcome this and create a more compelling, digital-first loyalty program for its Star Rewards scheme, they partnered with vendor HTK to implement the Horizon customer engagement platform.
HTK's solution involved replatforming the loyalty program to enable a mobile-first strategy, allowing for contactless points earning and redemption via a digital card. This was integrated with payment terminals across 800 sites. The results were significant, with Valero reporting a marked increase in customer loyalty. The partnership with HTK successfully migrated over 800,000 members and provided the foundation for continued innovation and personalized customer engagement.
