A HTK Case Study
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) needed a robust and reliable system to manage emergency communications for environmental incidents like flooding. Their challenge was to deliver critical, targeted alerts to citizens efficiently while handling large volumes of complex real-time data and reducing the load on their staff. SEPA turned to vendor HTK and their Horizon platform to enhance their citizen alert systems.
HTK implemented its Horizon platform, a scalable, cloud-based solution that automates end-to-end processes for sending targeted warnings. The system leverages geospatial data for precision and integrates with multiple communication channels. The results include a platform benchmarked to deliver over 430 messages per second, expanded reach into hard-to-reach communities, and the ability to provide 24/7 mission-critical service availability, significantly improving the speed and accuracy of public warnings.
