A HSI Case Study
ERCOT, an electric utility operating in the ERCOT region, faced a cumbersome qualification process for plant operators: oral exams were assembled manually from hundreds of paper documents maintained by individual plants, leaving HR to compile balanced tests and avoid duplicate questions. To digitize and streamline its Training Program Services, the utility engaged vendor HSI to propose a solution.
HSI implemented a digital exam bank tool and built operator technical exam banks for 26 facilities totaling almost 10,000 categorized and ranked questions, allowing HR to create exams in minutes instead of hours. HSI’s work improved question quality and maintainability, freed HR and plant management time, ensured easy updates, and has the digital question banks in use for most facilities with the remaining banks and additional position exams scheduled for completion next year.
