A HSI Case Study
Electric Utility Company, an ERCOT-based power generator, was struggling to administer the oral exams used to qualify plant operators. Each plant maintained its own paper question sets, forcing HR to manually pull and balance questions from hundreds of documents to ensure fairness and avoid repeats. To solve this, Electric Utility Company engaged HSI and its Training Program Services to digitize the question database and streamline exam creation.
HSI implemented a digital exam-bank tool and built operator technical exam banks for 26 facilities, totaling almost 10,000 questions categorized by plant and ranked easy/medium/hard. As a result, HR can create balanced exams in minutes instead of hours, the question banks are in active use for most facilities (with the remainder scheduled for completion next year), and both HR and plant management have reclaimed significant time while gaining an easy-to-update, high-quality question repository. HSI continues to support evaluation and expansion of the banks.
