A HSI Case Study
Caribbean Utility Company, a mid-size electric utility in the Caribbean with about 70 employees across water, steam, and reciprocating engine plants, faced missing documentation, no formal job descriptions, unclear career paths, and no reliable evaluation system. After meeting at a trade show, they engaged HSI to rebuild their training program using HSI’s Online Training Library/Industrial Skills library and Training Program Services to create a fair, skills‑based progression framework.
HSI developed duties and responsibilities outlines, in‑depth job descriptions, abbreviated job task analyses, utility‑specific and classroom training, assessments, and operator certification guides, and provided on-site assessments and training. The HSI solution tied progression plans to the online library, documented and closed critical knowledge gaps (notably among the 10–15 year operator cohort), produced certified operators, and established clearer evaluations and career paths—resulting in a more professional environment and ongoing on-site support from HSI.
